The Rolex FEI World Cup in Mechelen - Part Two: The Competition

Monday, 31 December 2012

The new partnership of Henrik von Eckermann and Gotha FRH prove to be a winning one in Mechelen. All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Steve Guerdat and the lovely Cumano-daughter Nasa ended fifth. The new number one in the world Christian Ahlmann featuring the Green and Gold armband.Francois Mathy Jr had a fantastic weekend - winning the Land Rover Masters and then he ended second in the World Cup. Henrik von Eckermann lost his right stirrup over the c-element in the triple combination and with little time between the fences it was no time to do anything about it. So Henrik jumped the three last fences without it. Our favorite; Valentina van't Heike produced a lovely clear first round under Jos.Kevin Staut picked up more World Cup points on Estoy Aqui De Muze HDC.Laura Renwick and Oz de Breve ended fourth. The triple combination caused a lot of problems. It was a vertical - vertical with two short strides and then one long stride to an oxer. Neriske Prinsloo almost fell of Bill Clinton after the c-element, but got back up and finished the course.
One horse that jumped the combination easily though was Verdi, who is jumping amazing right now!Simon Delestre and Valentino Velvet had two down in the jump-off. The winners are racing to the finish line!
