The Sky Sports Speed Classic at Hickstead was full of speed and action, and in the end it was home rider Laura Renwick that ended up on top riding the super fast Beluga (Heartbreaker x Darnels). The speed class set at 1.45 had 23 riders in it, and a little over half way in the class it was Katharina Offel that took the lead after producing a very fast round on MCB Sommerwind (Seidon x Dynamo) as she was cheered on and along by her team mates who watched ringside - crossing the finish line on 77.34 seconds. It didn't last long on the top though, as the notoriously fast Renwick came in the ring one rider later.
Using Beluga's natural speed, Laura raced around the thirteen fence track - getting the perfect turns and strides to almost every fence - shaving off an amazing 2,73 seconds on Offel's time much to the home crowd's appreciation. Last to go Guy Williams, another rider who is always fast, tried his very best to catch Laura - but had to settle for second on Bijouvan de Vijfheide (Darco x Laudanum) at 76.66 seconds pushing Offel down to third.
