The Swedish team for the European Championships in Madrid has been confirmed. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson, Malin Baryard Johnsson, Angelica Augustsson and Henrik von Eckermann are the first four riders picked for the team by Sylve Söderstrand, the team captain. A fifth rider will be announced later.
Rolf-Göran Bengtsson will ride Ninja La Silla – not Casall La Silla as he previously has stated. In a press release Rolf says that Ninja has been in good form over the summer, and competed at several big events. “I know what he’s capable of, and I would like to give him a chance in a championship,” Rolf says in the press release. Malin Baryard Johnsson will ride her stallion H&M Tornesch, while Angelica Augustsson makes her senior championship debut on her super star Mic Mac du Tillard. Henrik von Eckermann will ride his boss Ludger Beerbaum’s stallion Coupe de Couer, on which he was second in the Hachenburg Grand Prix the past weekend. It’s worth mentioning that three of the four riders on the Swedish team are based in Germany; Rolf, Angelica and Henrik are all stationed there.
Henrik and Rolf were also part of the team at the Europeans in Windsor in 2009.
