Katie McVean with Leopoldo Palaccio and top trainer Jeff McVean.Hi !! The show has finished and it was an honour to be part if it. We didn't win the GP but we came out guns blazing for Speed Horse of the Year. First up was Zara ( Zehrenland) but a rail added to our score amazingly she was so fast she went into the lead anyway (time added)... Katie made a quick call to Emma to throw a bridle in Zoe (Zasjany); "Do you want a saddle?" Was Emma's reply!! Haha rush to the ring with dust and all Zoe jumped and turned didn't miss a beat finished in first place - clean fast and clear!! What a super pony she was on fire!

Maurrie Beatson comes up trumps with My Golliwog in the 160 GP.In the GP our horses were a bit young but it was good experience never the less... The course was BIG and only 2 clears- they took 12 faults and less for the second round (a reflection of the difficulty) but it was THE Veteran of Kiwi showjumping Maurice (Maurrie) Beatson (aged 59) and his equally well aged mount My Golliwog(aged 18) who won outright being the only double clear. Maurrie says it's 22 years since he won and there was a moment when we all thought the winners traditional red jacket wouldn't fit... But it did. And no prouder man.. He incurred a time fault in the second round cos he couldn't get past the range rover parked in the ring, My Golliwog was finding the going slippery and had to go the long way,.... Maurrie have the offending car a good slap with his whip on the way out of the ring haha... But he still won ! The oldest rider and oldest horse on home ground it was a lovely win!!

Maurrie says he's heading to WEG in his campervan with Golliwog ..... I'm gonna see him there.. Meanwhile were all supping bubbles, the show has finished for another year but the party goes on all night. I've met old friends made new friends and seen some lovely horses... One things for sure is that there's talent here between the old and especially the young it's game on for NZ.

Zasjany and Emma wait to see that they are Speed Champions.
