Saut Hermes!Hi everyone!!!

It is a pleasure to be the World of Show Jumping blogger again for this week's Saut Hermes at the Grand Palais in the heart of Paris! My horses, Cylana and Ligist, shipped over last week and I flew over Sunday night. We spent a few days in Chantilly at Fursan's farm which was lovely. However there was one scary moment where a couple stallions broke out of their stalls in the middle of the night and came for Cylana. Unfortunately for them, they picked the wrong mare! If you know anything about her personality, you know that she is not afraid to express her dislike for behavior that does not suit her and that those two stallions ended up sincerely regretting bothering her.... She however is in beautiful shape! In fact, I think she quite enjoyed getting to take her rage out on someone/something without being yelled at... At any rate everyone was very lucky because these things happen and it could have been far worse!

I had a few days to catch up on sleep, gym time, and reading! I finally finished Helter Skelter, Vincent Bugliosi's novel about Charles Manson, his crimes, and his trial, which is SUCH a good book! I also just started Water for Elephants.

Some quality time shopping with Miss Mouse on the Faubourg.Today after I flatted the two horses they shipped into Paris around 11:00. Katie, Henri, and I packed up and headed into the city to the Sofitel- a very chic hotel right next to the American embassy off the Place de la Concorde. This is my favorite neighborhood of Paris- the shopping district! I know it like the back of my hand!

My mother flew in this morning and as soon as her feet touched the ground she was headed to shop- a woman on a mission! She brought one of our dogs, Mouse, a mini schnauzer. I'm so jealous because this is the first time I have been away from my rescue puppy Carly! The girls at our farm told me she has been very sad and cries looking for me- I think I'm worse off!

My mother and I did the full tour of the Faubourg St. Honore - first stopping at her favorite boutique then browsing through Hermes, Dior, Gucci, the works!! I had a really great find- a fantastic vintage looking long distressed leather jacket with some cool embellishments from a trendy boutique and the most adorable little polka-dot frilly dress from Miu Miu! We also got something special for Miss Stacey, my barn manager, because it is her birthday on Sunday!!!! Shh don't tell her, it's a surprise! ;)

My favorite- the Crillon! After exhausting ourselves shopping, we returned to our rooms at the Sofitel. While my mom rested, I hit the gym! It is tiny but not too bad. After a good workout we got all dressed up and headed to dinner. We tried a new place on Avenue Matignon called Market. The food was delicious and it was a beautiful walk through the park to get there. On the way back we took a little tour down the Champs-elysees which was lined with banners for the Saut Hermes. The Grand Palais' dome was all lit up- I'm excited to see the inside tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow morning we have the jog first thing and the first class, a speed for Ligist, goes at 12:45. Cylana will do the bigger classes each day because it is similar to the format of the World Cup Final- good practice for in a few weeks!

Mouse joined us for dinner at Market...
The Grand Palais lit up at night.
Mouse in her squirrel sweater on the streets of Paris!
My angel Carly on the farm in Kentucky! she has the cutest ears :)
Sometimes my mom draws eyebrows on our Jack Russel Rudy- this is in imitation of a girl in Florida who likes to draw her eyebrows in a different colors - my mother is like Picasso! We can be very silly!
