The WoSJ guest blogger from CHI Geneva; Heidi Mulari - We finally found the "Geneva magic"!

Monday, 16 December 2013

Hi everybody,

Saturday was a hard day for me with Liisa's retirement ceremony. It was done very nicely, but I don't think I could have done it without Mari being there. She literally had to push me into the arena.. Strange thing was that once it was over I was absolutely fine. All day I had been in tears just by somebody mentioning Liisa's name, but when I knew it was done and over with I was ok. I think it was super that the public in Geneva got to see her one more time, she is in super shape so it was great for everybody. Liisa was a bit excited and knew something special was going on and that everybody was there for her. The fans had made amazing banderols, a few were brought to the stable and I hang them up there and later on took them home with me.

It's a bit sad that Liisa didn't get to jump in Geneva anymore but better this way. She can still be very proud of herself, she has accomplished more than an avarage horses and she will always have a special place in my heart - for me she is a once in a lifetime horse. Thank you Liisa for everything you have done for us!!

Nasa and Roope were as faithful as always on Saturday, both jumping amazing but having 1 down.. Just that little something is missing with them. Roope at least made it to the jump off and was actually placed. I hang the rosette in my tackroom and Nasa was very curious about it later on, sniffing it and trying to eat it. Told her she should try to get her own ones a bit more often and not act so suprised!

Sunday was the day, Nino showed again what he's made of! He obviosly wanted to take Liisa's place in the hearts of the Geneva public and won the Rolex Grand Prix! Neylan Etimann (FEI steward) brought Nino a little lucky charm on Saturday, and the monkey that Nino can be sometimes he of course ate it on Sunday morning, just to make sure it will bring luck.. Well, whatever it was, it worked and the weekend could not have ended better, we finally found the "Geneva magic" and gave the fans what they all came for!!

Merry Christmas and happy New Year to everybody!
