Day four here in Incheon included Team Hong Kong doing our first full training day; we all rode in the morning. Adonis was very very fresh! He obviously has recovered fully from the long trip and was very happy in Incheon. I worked him for around 45 mins and then went for a nice walk. Lunch time was a rather quiet time and seeing as the athletes village was 45 minutes away, we decided to relax and eat lunch at the venue. We played poker substituted poker chips with potato chips. Then we all took the horses out again in the afternoon. I decided to lunge Adonis. He felt like he needed to get some bucks out of his system.... Oh boy was I right! I ended the day with another interval training followed by a Hong Kong Team dinner at a Korean BBQ.
Yesterday, Adonis was really relaxed. He still felt fresh but not like he was ready to explode! Longing him the day before did him a lot of good! We stayed at the venue for lunch again and worked out again in the stable aisle. Today I did the interval training called Beach Body Insanity as well as some TRX exercises as well. My groom Sam took Adonis for a hand walk in the afternoon. It was very hot today so we decided to not over do the riding today. The team physio checked all the horses and all were in good form.
When we returned to the athletes village around 6 and there was a huge line up for the elevator. Patrick, Kenneth, Raena and I decided to take the stairs.... 23 flights of stairs later, we were all gasping for air as we stumbled out of the stairwell! After a shower we headed over to the dining hall for a very large salad (seeing as we had Korean BBQ 4 nights in a row...)
Almost all of the jumping horses have now arrived at the venue. I think the last load will arrive tomorrow. My friend and fellow JustWorld International ambassador Latifah Al Maktoum of team UAE arrived. It was great to see her again. We were both on the podium 4 years ago (Latifah won team silver and individual silver and I won team silver with the HK team) so we are of course both hoping for more medals this year!!!
Today we watched our HK eventing team do their dressage tests. They all did very well and are well positioned in the team standings. We then walked the course with them and their team trainer Lucinda Fredricks.
This evening we did another 23 flights of stairs before our workout. I am now writing this blog entry from the comfort of my very hard Korean bed and ready to hit the hay! We'll be up bright and early tomorrow to ride so that we can cheer on our eventing riders on the cross country course!!! Good night all!
