The WoSJ guest blogger from the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final; Kay Neatham – Top 10 day

Sunday, 01 December 2013

Hi everone,

It's Top 10 day.. This will be my 5th time grooming for a top ten participant. Once for Beat Mändli and 4 times for Marcus. Never been higher than 5th place and today showed that fact was not about to change!

There are some things in sport that you kind of want win and this would be one of those classes on my list, it looks like I'll have to do another year in the sport then! If that's enough... Every year, for as long as I can remember, we have had a betting board in the stable, this year was no different and Daniel was the favorite, also Ludger and Rodrigo's top tip, how right they were.

As we all started to get our horses ready for the class, the tension was building, big night and this is the class we all drove 2,000 km or more to jump and win!

The arena was full with a good audience, as each rider was introduced and gave a short interview on the big screen, Marcus did a great interview, thanking the always supportive fans in Sweden, when he came out, I jokingly said' I was proud of his very professional job and awesome interview!!' A little laugh is always good when tension is running high!

Cop was in good form and Marcus too, we had a bit of 'bridle didn't match the back boots' in the first round and a great 2nd round... That's how it goes; we ended 6th.

I was already washing Moppy off, in the wash box at the ring, as Daniel entered the arena as last to go for the jump off. As Daniel crossed the finish line, he didn't realize straight away he'd done it ... and nor did we watching... as it dawned on Daniel and he raised his hand into the air everyone was suddenly on their feet cheering and clapping for the top ten winner. Awesome and well deserved!

Kay
