The Youngster Cup Final in Aachen to Hans-Dieter Dreher and Quiwi Dream

Saturday, 29 June 2013

Hansi with Quiwi Dream. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Hans-Dieter Dreher and the 8 year old stallion Quiwi Dream (Quidam de Revel x Contender) won the Youngster Cup Final in Aachen on Saturday. Sixteen seven year olds, and fourteen eight year olds lined up for the final – and plenty of future super stars could be watched in the ring in Aachen. Four went double clear, two eight year olds and two seven year olds. Fastest of them all in the jump-off was Hansi and the wonderful Quiwi Dream who crossed the finish line on 49.66 seconds. It was the closest of margins as Shane Carey and the seven year old Saphir (Salito x Escudo I) came in with a time of 49.67 seconds to end as number two. Billy Twomey was the other Irish rider in the top four, riding Royale du Rouet (Jeff d´Or x Kannan) to a time of 52.29 seconds. Christian Ahlmann and Barco 6 (Burggraaf x Equador) had the last double clear, and ended fourth.
