The first day of the Olympic team competition in pictures

Sunday, 05 August 2012

Nick Skelton got a big hug from Laura Kraut after his clear round on Big Star.

The riders had to jump over a "bus" today. Another one of today's fences and this one caused a lot of trouble. The lions were guarding the last fence. Ben Maher gave his Tripple X a pet after a great round. The groom tried to get Crossing Jordan out of the rain. Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda, alias Doda, was answering all the questions from the media. George Morris' team went on to the second day of the team competition. Gerco Schröder and Dirk Demeersman in the mixed zone dealing with the press. Janne Friederike Meyer and Lambrasco on their way to the arena. Eric Lamaze and the Canadian team were very upset with the disqualification of Victor. Lisen Bratt Fredricson was the hero of the day. After her bad fall yesterday the doctors said it was only a 10% chance that she would be able to ride today. But with a lot of pain she rode a great round with only four faults. Happy and relieved she left the arena with her husband Peder Fredricson.Maikel van der Vleuten and Verdi on their way out from the arena after another great clear.A pleased couple - McLain Ward and Antares. Paul Estermann is one of the biggest stars at the moment. Penelope Leprevost is out of the further competition in London both as an individual rider and with the French team. Philppe Le Jeune and Vigo d'Arsouilles done for the day. Scott Brash hiding from the rain under a British umbrella. Star Power really looks like a sweet star. The rain was pouring down in the beginning of the class, but luckily it stopped after about half way through.
