Tim Stockdale expected out of hospital this week

Wednesday, 23 November 2011

Tim Stockdale before his injury. Here with Fresh Direct Kalico Bay in Falsterbo. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Six weeks after he fell off a young horse and broke his neck, British rider Tim Stockdale is expected to leave hospital this week. Stockdale has been immobilised by the doctors in order to stablise the injury, and this week he  took his first steps since the accident.

“I can’t tell you how pleased I am,” Stockdale stated to Horse & Hound. “I’m like a child at Christmas! All I’ve been looking at for the past six weeks is the ceiling.”

“If everything goes to plan and my blood pressure doesn’t go up, then I think they’re wanting me to go home this Friday (25 November).” Although he is in good spirits, Tim told H&H that it would take some time to build up his strength. “I’m still in a collar,” he said. “It just feels weird. I’m very weak because I’ve lost a lot of muscle.”
