Billy Twomey has continued his tremendous run of form by winning the two biggest classes at the 5* show in Zürich so far – the 1.50 Liebherr-Preis today and the Rolex Grand Prix yesterday. Twomey rode the mare Tinka’s Serenade (Tinka’s Boy x African Drum) in both classes, and their speed around the courses earned the Irish rider a total of 75000 CHF.
In yesterday’s Grand Prix Twomey crossed the finish line clear on 34.83, beating Pius Schwizer and Carlina with 0.05 seconds. Rolf-Göran Bengtsson followed in third aboard Ninja la Silla with the time 35.52.
It was also a close race in today’s class with Billy finishing on 29.38 just ahead of fellow countryman Denis Lynch aboard Abbervail van het Dingishof with a time of 29.75. Edwina Alexander on Sevo Socrates was third.
Yesterday’s 1.45 class was won by Finnish star Nina Fagerström on Mouse (Limbus x Grundyman). Martin Fuchs and Riot Gun took the Jump and Drive class.
