Twomey strengthens his string of horses

Friday, 07 January 2011

Romanov in Aachen together with Philip Spivey. Irish rider Billy Twomey – who is now ranked as number seven in the world – has a new horse in the Heartbreaker-stallion Romanov II. The 13-year old stallion has been sold from Tracey Forrest at the Stackhouse Stud in Great Britain to Twomey’s owners.

Romanov II has previously been ridden by British rider Philip Spivey, who also chose the horse together with Stackhouse Stud when the KWPN-stallion was two years old. Spivey has produced Romanov all the way through the grades up to Super League Nations Cup level. In 2010 the pair was placed 6th in the prestigious $1m CN International Grand Prix at Spruce Meadows.

On Stackhouse Stud’s website it is said that the decision to sell Romanov was a difficult one, and was taken together with Philip Spivey.
