Today’s GP in Helsinki was won by French rider Patrice Delaveau and the amazing Selle Francais mare Ornella Mail (Lando x Alligator Fontaine). Delaveau was one out of five riders who rode a double clear with the time 37.92 in the jump-off. Ludo Phillipaerts and Kassini Jac (Cassini II x Lombard) came second at 38.13 with Christian Ahlmann and Wilco 52 (Nabab de reve x Fedor) on third at 39.83.
The class had 35 riders to start and ten riders qualified for the jump-off. Home rider Nina Fagerström gave the home crowd something to celebrate with a eight place aboard Stephex Stable’s lovely gelding Talent (Mermus x Julio Marnier).
“It was a big course, but the arena is small and the fences were coming fast – there was no place to rest in between. Several of the fences came close out of the turns. The course was well build with ten clears; but the tiny warm-up could cause problems as you can’t get the right tempo up before you go into the main ring. Usually you would like to get the same tempo in the warm-up as in the arena,” says Angelica Augustsson - seventh in the GP - to WoSJ. “It’s a great show and good atmosphere,” concludes Angelica.
