Urico injured in La Baule

Monday, 19 May 2014

Urico - here seen with his former rider Mario Deslauriers in Rotterdam in 2011. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Ben Maher's ride Urico sustained an injury whilst competing in La Baule yesterday. According to British Showjumping the British Team vet, Bobby McEwen, immediately assessed the situation before making a decision to refer Urico to a well-respected veterinary clinic in Nantes. Neither British Showjumping nor the British Equestrian Federation are able to give any further information at this moment in time, but confirm that they are in ongoing contact with all parties concerned.

In a statement released by Maher on his Facebook account yesterday, it is written: "Urico will undergo surgery to repair the sustained injury. Jane, myself and our team are devastated but are confident that Urico will make a full recovery, so that this talented horse can retire from international competition and enjoy a retirement at Jane Clark's farm in Wellington, Florida."
