Van der Vleuten and Gaudiano take the Saturday in London

Sunday, 21 December 2014

Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Arera C. Archive photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. Maikel van der Vleuten and VDL Groep Arera C (Indoctro x Voltaire) took home the biggest class at Olympia Saturday evening. As always Maikel rode a fast and fearless jump-off proving once again that he is one of the fastest riders in the world. With 16 riders in the jump-off the Dutch rider had plenty of challengers and it was Michael Whitaker and Valentin R (Heartbreaker x Indorado)that came closest to the win, 0,72 seconds behind Maikel. The British riders gave the home crowd value for money as John Whitaker and Lord of Arabia (Cassini II x Carry) secured third place with Ben Maher and Wings Sublieme (Oklund x Voltaire) following right behind him as number four. Reed Kessler made sure to split the domination of male riders as she ended fifth aboard KS Stakki (Stakkato Gold x Silvio).

Earlier in the day Emanuele Gaudiano made it an Italian win as he was the fastest rider in the 1.45 class riding Caesario (Cornet Obolensky x Pilot). Gaudiano was followed by two German combinations, David Will riding Highrise (Stolzenberg x Western Star) and Daniel Deusser with Air Pia Vg Z (Air Jordan x Pilot).
