It was a strong Brazilian team that took home the win in Arezzo and the 21st and last qualifier of the Furusiyya FEI Nations 2013 series Europe division 2. With a final score of eight faults, the Brazilian team took a convincing victory with eight faults down to France and Switzerland in second place at 16 faults. Great Britain followed in fourth place at 17 faults before Italy finishing at 18 faults as number five.
Best of the Brazilian riders was Marlon Zanotelli and the ten year old stallion Clouwni (Colman x La Zarras) who produced two clear rounds. Marlon who works and rides for Ashford Farm in Belgium, has shown some very good riding this season, and has proved to be a strong candidate on the Brazilian team. To secure Marlon and Clouwni for the team towards the WEG next year, Alvaro de Miranda (Doda), recently stepped up and bought half of the horse.
Doda was also a part of the winning team in Arezzo riding AD Utje (Monaco x Calypso). Doda had four faults in both rounds, while Eduardo Menezes and Rodrigo Pessoa both had one clear round and one round at four faults. Eduardo was riding Calavada (Calvaro Z x Quilot Z), and Rodrigo was seen aboard his relatively new mount Citizenguard Cadjanine Z (Canabis Z x Feinschnitt I Z), previously seen under Gregory Wathelet before she came to Rodrigo earlier this summer.
"It's an amazing feeling to win a Nations Cup. Specially to jump beside such great riders and have the trust from our chef d'Equipe and the federation. I'm really happy for my horse, he did a great job today. I would like to thank Enda Carroll, Jos Lansink, Doda and Athina . the owners of Clouwni - for such a big support and of course all Ashford Farm team! Big thanks," Marlon Zanotelli stated after the class.
