Von Eckermann and Hassmann best at the Bundeschampionat!

Sunday, 02 September 2012

Henrik von Eckermann and Captain Sparrow were best among the five year olds. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The prestigious German Championship for Young Horses - the Bundeschampionat - took place in Warendorf this weekend. Henrik von Eckermann won the final among the 5 year olds with Captain Sparrow (Cormint x Barnaul xx), while Toni Hassmann took home the final for the 6 year olds with Crespo PKZ (Cornet Obolensky x Landadel).

The five year olds got points from 0 - 10 for how they jumped, there ridability and the rhythm. The eight horses with the highest scores from the first round qualified for a second round where they once again were judge the same way. The pair who got the total best score over the two rounds won the final. Henrik ended both rounds with a total score of 17,6 and was 0,2 points better than second placed Bastian Freese with DSP Araldik (Con Air x Franklin). The bronze medal went to the Olympic Champion in eventing Michael Jung with Cardea (Caretino x Capitol I).

Toni Hassmann did an amazingly fast jump-off with Crespo PKZ - here over the first fence. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. The first round for the six year olds was decided in the same way as for the five year olds, and the pairs with the eight best scores went on to ride a jump-off where the times decided the winner. Toni Hassmann was first to go in the jump-off and got a perfect round that was impossible for the others to beat. Second place went to Hendrik Dowe with Cassinja S (Carinjo x Cassini I) and third place to Gerd Könemann with Cornetto (Cornet Obolensky x Polydor).

Michael Jung got a special prize in the class for the six year olds as he got the best score with Savita (Stakkato Gold x Centesimo) in the first round with the fantastic score 9.1.
