Jalisca Solier has - and always will have - a very special place in our WoSJ hearts. Now she will be retired, and one thing is for sure - she will be missed. This is our tribute to one of the most fantastic horses in the sport. All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.
Jalisca - or Liisa as she also is known as - has been Steve's faithful partner for many years.Together they have won won an European team gold medal, the Top Ten final, World Cup qualifiers and several Grand Prix classes in addition to an Olympic team bronze.Despite being an accident prone horse, she has had an extremely successful career. As a baby Jalisca once tried to jump out of her field, but got stuck - she has a very visible scar from the incident. Later in life she fractured her leg, and in 2007 she went through colic surgery. Nevertheless - she always bounced back!Jalisca is French bred by Alligator Fontaine out of the mare Dune Solier by Jalisco B.In an interview with WoSJ, Jalisca's long time groom Heidi Mulari said; "Lisa is a people’s horse, she doesn’t like other horses.” Steve and Jalisca have a magical partnership - one of those that does not come around that often.Steve's amazing mare will be retired in Geneva in December - in front of the home crowds. We hope to see many small Liisas in the future as she hopefully will be dedicated to breeding. Liisa with her best friend and groom Heidi in Cannes. Beatutiful, beautiful Jalisca. Our lucky meeting with Jalisca in Cannes in 2012. The same evening she went on to win big again. Jalisca; we will miss you! Thanks for every amazing jump you made.
