Philipp Weishaupt and Catoki did it again when they won Sunday’s 5*Grand Prix in Vigo, Spain. It’s only a week since the pair won the world cup in Bordeaux, and it seems that their win in the French city gave plenty of inspiration for continued success. A double clear with a time of 41.50 was enough for the German rider and his Cambridge-stallion to take the honors ahead of Edwina Alexander and Cevo Socrates on 41.76. Sergio Alvares Moya made the Spanish crowd happy by taking third place on the Darco-gelding Wisconsin.
Eight riders out of 36 moved on to the jump-off. Five riders managed to ride clear rounds here as well, the two last of these being Lars Nieberg and Denis Lynch.
The 1.45 class of the day was won by crowd-pleaser Sergio Alvares Moya. In front of the home crowd the Spanish rider and his 10 year old stallion Uno (Fuego de Prelet x Power) beat Rene Lopez aboard Netscape du Mirador with a double clear and a jump-off that was 1.5 half seconds faster than the Columbian rider’s time. Jessica Kürten was third on Fashion 42, while Norway’s Tony André Hansen was back in the money with the 10 year old Gran Corrado-gelding Upstaire.
