John Whitaker and the seriously promising Argento (Arko x Gasper) won the four star Grand Prix in Geesteren, Holland, today. This nine year old British bred stallion has been doing a lot of classes in the UK this spring, and recently Argento won the Bolesworth Classic Grand Prix in Cheshire.
Whitaker and Argento were double clear, and 2.21 seconds faster than Dutch rider Nathalie van der Mei on Ultimo (Heartbreaker x Indoctro). Julia Kayser on Sterrehof’s Valdato (Emilion x Caretino) was third, also she double-clear. The fastest time in the jump-off belonged to Albert Zoer on Sam (Calvados x Ahorn), but the pair had one fence down in their chase for victory and had to settle for fourth. John got an Audi A5 for his win, while van der Mai got a A3 and Julia a A1 - not too bad! Several of the riders that participated in the Global Champions Tour in Monte Carlo were at start in the Grand Prix in Geesteren, such as Pius Schwizer, Judy-Ann Melchior, Christian Ahlmann and Marc Houtzager. All of them did better in Monte-Carlo yesterday, than in the Grand Prix in Geesteren today.
