It opened well for the home riders in Saint-Tropez, as Julien Epaillard won the 1.50 class at the Longines Athina Onassis Horse Show. Aboard the always fast and lovely Casall-son Cristallo A LM Julien came in half-way in a eleven horse jump-off, racing around the shortened track stopping the clock at 33.98 which was no less than 2.06 seconds faster than Marlon Zanotelli’s time on AD Clouwni (Colman x La Zarras) leaving the Brazilian rider to runner-up position. Third was another home rider; Philippe Rozier on Chester 140 (Carry).
It was not only a good day for the French, but also for Ashford Farm as Angelica Augustsson – Zanotelli’s colleague – won the 1.45 class on Quiet Easy (Quidams Rubin x Zapateado). The Swedish rider’s time was as good as 26.14, and she left Simon Delestre behind her in second on Stardust Quinhon (Calvaro x Cabdula du Tillard) in 26.44. Third place went to Rodrigo Pessoa on Tinkabell 12 (Casco x Ekstein).
