Saturday, 20 July 2013

Steve Guerdat won in Chantilly. Photo by Stefano Grasso/Longines Global Champions Tour.Friday afternoon Swiss Olympic Champion, Steve Guerdat, won the EADS-Generali Prize in Chantilly. The class was set at 1.50 and was against the clock, and Steve's victory came on his faithful and longtime 16 year old partner Jalisca Solier (Alligator Fontaine x Jalisco B). “Jalisca has been in great shape for the last two years now, maybe she is in better shape than two years ago. I only enter her in the best competitions, where I know the ground will be good. And thus she only takes part in eight classes per year and I have come here with that objective: To win in this beautiful arena,” Steve said after his win.

Guerdat beat French rider Kevin Staut on the 8 year old For Joy van’t Zorgvliet HDC (For Pleasure/Heartbreaker) with almost three seconds, while Hans-Dieter Dreher was third on Colore (Contender x Lord).

Earlier in the day Philippe Rozier won the 1.45 class - Prix G.R.O.W - on Rahotep de Toscane (Quidam de Revel x Laudanum). The French rider had one of fifteen clear rounds in this class, and was was by far the fastest at 59.48 seconds. Robert Breul made it double French, ending second on Qody de St Aubert (Fidji du Fleury x Damoiseau d'Or) with a time of 62.01 seconds. Third was Werner Muff on Zwinulana (Phin Phin x Ahorn).
