Wins for Lopez and Breen on opening day of CSI5* La Coruna

Photo by Oxer Sport.Shane Breen secured the victory in Friday's feature class at the CSI5* event in La Coruna – the NH Collection Trophy. A total of nine riders out of the 38, moved on to the jump-off in this 1.50/1.55 class after a first clear round. Only three riders yet again went clear, and Breen was the fastest of these with a time of 39,15 seconds riding Farao van't Vennehof (Triomphe de Muze x Sun Light van de Zuuthoeve).

Runner-up was Philipp Weishaupt riding Chico (Cordalme x Sandro), who stopped the clock at 39.26 seconds while third place went to Katharina Offel on Charlie (Cornet Obolensky x Potsdam) with a time of 39,60 seconds.

The 1.45 class against the clock – the Trofeo Marques de Riscal – was won by Carlos López, the recent winner of the World Cup in Madrid. Riding Zephyr II (Tolano van't Riethof x Goodtimes) to a clear round in a time of 60,68 seconds, he left home rider Eduardo Álvarez Aznar on Ryanair Riverland (Quick Star x Papillon Rouge) behind him. Third place went to Olivier Robert and Quenelle du Py (Tresor du Renom).
