Wins for Schwizer and Hough on opening day in London

Friday, 07 June 2013

Pius Schwizer and Coolgirl won the 1.45 class in London. Photo by Stefano Grasso/Longines Global Champions Tour. The two 5* classes at the opening day in London yesterday went to Pius Schwizer and Lauren Hough. Pius took home the 1.45 class on the 9 year old mare Coolgirl, while home rider Mark Armstrong on Thesaura (Darco x Lys de Darmen) was second – with only 0,04 seconds separating the two in the jump-off. Third place went to Maikel van der Vleuten on the wonderful VDL Groep Sapphire B (Darco x Lys de Darmen).

The biggest class of the day – the Massimo Dutti Prix – was won by US rider Lauren Hough, on the very quick Ohlala (Orlando x Cardento). This 9 year old mare keeps on producing top results, and yesterday was no exception – Ohlala was almost two seconds faster than runner-up Labors Wonderboy (Darco x Lys de Darmen) with Jur Vrieling in the saddle. Then followed another notoriously fast rider, Roger Yves Bost on the Ideal de la Loge-son Qoud'Coeur de la Loge.
