WoSJ Close-Up; Big Star

Thursday, 08 November 2012

It is time for a WoSJ Close-Up on one of the biggest stars of the sport, and he has a very suitable name: Big Star! All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Big Star is a nine year old KWPN stallion by Quick Star x Nimmerdor. His dam is Jolanda, and he was bred by C.T. Klaver. Big Star is owned by Gary and Beverly Widdowson. Big Star's birth name was What A Quick Star.Big Star won Olympic team gold in London this summer together with Nick Skelton, and had only one fence down throughout the Games. If scores from all the rounds in London had been combined, Big Star would also have won individual gold. His stable name is Henry. In 2012, Big Star won big classes in Gijon, Aachen, Hamburg, Antwerpen and Belgium. In London Nick said this of Big Star; “My horse felt amazing, looked amazing and is amazing. He hasn’t got a negative. He is the perfect horse." The stallion is a crowd favorite with his amazing prensence and jumping abilities.Big Star was number two on the latest FEI WBSFH World Ranking List.He was spotted as a five year old at a show in Holland by Laura Kraut. She told Nick to come and see Big Star straight away!We are looking forward to many more shows with the fantastic Big Star!
