McLain has described Rothchild as “a hot little horse”.Born 9th of April 2001, his original name was Rotchild du Bosquetiau.Rotchild belongs to the sBs-studbook, and is bred by Bernard and Luc Pagnieau. He is by Artos Z out of the mare Pitchounette du Bosquetiau by Elegant d’Lile.As a six and seven year old Rotchild was competed by Patrice Planchat. Since he was eight he could be seen with McLain in the saddle.On the final FEI WBFSH World Ranking List of the year Rotchild was ranked as nr. two in the world. Of Rotchild, McLain once said: “I like his character, but it's going to be his way. And you need to find a way to agree with that.”At the World Equestrian Games this year, Rotchild finished off 5th individually after ending Saturday's competition for the top thirty riders with two clear rounds......and he also helped secure the team bronze medal for USA.The gelding has had some huge wins this year; he won Grand Prix classes in Antwerp and Calgary as well as being on the winning Nations Cup team at Hickstead and in the Challenge Cup in Barcelona.During his career with Ward, Rotchild has also notched up major wins in Aachen, Rome, Valkenswaard, Wellington, Saugerties, Lexington, Toronto and Tampa.
