We continue our WoSJ Close-Up series, this time with the incredible Taloubet Z in focus. All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.
Taloubet Z is a 13 year old stallion by Galoubet A, out of the mare Krista by Polydor.
Taloubet has been with Christian for about four years, after he took on the ride from his girlfriend Judy-Ann Melchior.
Christian took on Taloubet for a few weeks to help Judy-Ann out, but it worked so well he that he stayed with Christian.
That he is a stallion is hardly noticeable, according to his groom Emma!
Taloubet Z is one of the crowd favorites on the international circuit.
Emma tells WoSJ that the special thing about Taloubet is that he is incredibly kind!
According to Emma Taloubet is the perfect horse to handle, and take around the world. He’s never afraid of anything, and doesn’t stress. Taloubet only gets excited when he gets to jump!
Christian says that the special thing about Taloubet is probably his power! He has a bit of a flat canter, and Christian often has to put in a stride more than the other riders. But Taloubet can jump from power only; it doesn’t matter if the fence comes right out of the corner and he has no canter.
Taloubet has a real character, and Emma tells WoSJ that he is truly fantastic – so kind through and through.
Taloubet loves to work, and is a pleasure to ride.
The first year Christian had Taloubet he went from jumping a few 1.30 classes to winning the Grand Prix in Hannover. Christian then took a few steps backwards with him and build him up again for a second time, as things went very fast.
In 2012 Taloubet Z and Christian were on the winning German team in the Nations Cups in Calgary and Rome.
Taloubet Z has won the World Cup in Leipzig three times in a row; first he won the Final there in 2011, the he won the World Cup qualifier in 2012 – and repeated his win in this year’s qualifier in January.
Taloubet was Christian’s winning ride in the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final in Geneva in 2012.
