WoSJ Exclusive; From Kentucky to Normandy | A trip down Memory Lane - part one

Sunday, 24 August 2014

WoSJ has taken a closer look at the horses that competed at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games four years ago and what has happened to them since then. In other words; a little trip down Memory Lane... First out is the tiny Itot Du Chateau, who jumped into many hearts with Edwina Tops-Alexander. He was retired during the Longines Global Champions Tour in Paris earlier this year, as an 18 year old with numerous of victories under his belt.  After winning the silver medal at the World Equestrian Games in 2010 with Abdullah Sharbatly, Seldana di Campalto sadly disappeared from the show rings due to injuries. She made a short come back in the beginning of 2011 in the World Cup qualifer in Al Ain and in the World Cup Final in Leipzig. Seldana got injured again in Leipzig and the last show recorded in FEI's database was in July 2011. After the WEG in 2010 Wonderboy III went to the Olympics in London 2012 with Ahmad Saber Hamcho. In August the same year it was reported that Denis Lynch got the gelding, but shortly after Wonderboy went back to his former owner Georgie Crumley. Sadly the gelding passed away in January 2013. Related articles: Denis Lynch changes Contifex for Wonderboy III, Wonderboy III back to England and Farewell to Wonderboy III.  The now 16 years old AD Ashleigh Drossel Dan is still going strong and is still ridden by Doda de Miranda. Another horse still competing is the now 17 year old Tinka's Serenade, with the same rider: Billy Twomey. But during these four years she has also become a mother. But for the last year he has not been seen in the international rings. Related articles: The Swedish team for the European Championships.  Cian O'Connor sold the now 15 year old K Club Lady to Alexander Onischenko in December 2013. The mare is now being ridden by Ukraine's Oleg Krasyuk. Related article: O’Connor sells K Club Lady and Temple Road. Vivant is another horse that was bought by Alexander Onischenko, from his WEG-rider Chris Chugg - and that already in the beginning of 2011. Katharina Offel then rode the now 16 year old stallion at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 and now we will se him with Cassio Rivetti in the saddle in Normandy. Related articles: Vivant in the process of being sold and Ukraine´s Olympic Team.  The now 16 year old Lantinus is still competing with Denis Lynch in the saddle, but the word is that the gelding is about to be retired.  Earlier this year Bufero van het Panishof changed rider from Dirk Demeersman, who also rode him at the WEG in 2010, to Kevin Gielen. Related articles: Bufero van het Panishof and Dirk Demeersman part ways and Bufero van het Panishof to Kevin Gielen. The now 14 year old Hallmark Elite is still going strong and is still seen with Dermott Lennon in the saddle. The stallion Tresor that could be seen under Steve Guerdat has become 18 years old, and has been retired from the sport.
