WoSJ Exclusive; From Kentucky to Normandy | A trip down Memory Lane - part two

WoSJ has taken a closer look at the horses that competed at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games four years ago and what has happened to them since then. Here is part two of our trip down Memory Lane... The amazing Hickstead left us way to early when he sadly passed away during the show in Verona in 2011. Geir Gulliksen's L'Éspoir has turned 18, but is still fit and started off the year with four World Cup shows. After the European Championships in Madrid in 2011 the owners of Utascha SFN - Springpaarden Fonds Nederland - changed rider on the mare from Eric van der Vleuten to Jeroen Dubbeldam. With Dubbeldam, the mare took part at the Europeans in Herning in 2013 before she was sold to Qatar at the end of the year. Related article: Utascha SFN to Qatar.The 15 year old Exquis Walnut de Muze is still going strong with Harrie Smolders.Niack de l'Abbaye was sold from James Paterson Robinson to Alexander Onishchenko in May 2011. Nasir.We would have loved to see Jos Lansink's Valentina van't Heike at the Games in Normandy, but her career ended very suddenly when she injured herself in April last year. She now enjoys life in the field at home at Lansink's yard. After that he didn't made it back to the show rings, and instead he got retired during the show in Hamburg this year. Right before the Olympic Games in 2012 Presley Boy suffered from colic that was followed by laminitis and he never made it back to the sport. Related articles: Al Eid and Presley Boy out of the Olympics, They will be missed at the Olympics! and Presley Boy has passed away.Cha Cha Z got a break during Judy-Ann Melchior's pregnancy and after that the mare got injured. So she had a long break from the shows between the end of 2011 until April 2013. Then we unfortunately only saw Cha Cha Z in the rings for half a year before she was dedicated to breeding.
