WoSJ Exclusive; Looking back at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Final 2010 - 1

Thursday, 21 August 2014

They didn't know it in this moment, but these two would end up as World Champions - Philippe Le Jeune and Vigo d'Arsouilles! The other riders in the final were Rodrigo Pessoa with HH Rebozo, Eric Lamaze with Hickstead and Abdullah Al Sharbatly with Seldana di Campalto. All photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

In the World Championship final four riders take part. They all start with a round on their own horses before they change horses with each other. In the end all riders have ridden all horses.  This couple was for sure special - Eric Lamaze and Hickstead.  Rodrigo Pessoa on Sharbatly's ride Seldana di Camptalto. HH Rebozo getting ready for the next rider.  Rodrigo looked very happy in the beginning, but in the end the Brazilian rider unfortunately ended up without a medal. Eric after finishing with his round on Vigo d'Arsouilles.  One thing that stuck with us from the World Championships in Kentucky was the love Philippe Le Jeune seemed to have for all the horses. Before the Belgian rider sat up on a new horse he would greet them, and he thanked every horse properly after the ride. He was also by Vigo's side petting him after every round he did.  Hickstead getting some TLC after his round with Sharbatly.  There are no long breaks for the horses, and it is always a new saddle on their back as the riders are riding in their own saddle on all the horses.  Philippe Le Jeune with Seldana di Campalto. Le Jeune thanking Seldana for the ride. Eric Lamaze waiting for his turn.  Jos Kumps and Eric Lamaze.
