WoSJ Exclusive; Looking back at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games Final 2010 - 2

Friday, 22 August 2014

Vigo d'Arsouilles and Hickstead got to know each other during the final - both behaving as it was any given day. Photos by Jenny Abrahamsson.

Philippe was as usual by Vigo's side when he finished his round - this time with Sharbatly. Sharbatly stopped on his way to pet Vigo. Rodrigo's turn to jump Hickstead. Waiting for the next saddle... The riders are only allowed to put their saddle on, the rest of the equipment that the horse has on has to stay on during the whole competition. Eric Lamaze with Seldana di Campalto. Seldana was probably the horse having the most problems with the format of the final. The mare was very stressed in the beginning and it was hard for the riders to change the saddle on her. Sharbatly rode his last round on HH Rebozo, and celebrated this way. So cute! Vigo was waiting like this all the final - with the ears pricked but still so relaxed. Sharbatly and Pessoa having a chat. Philippe Le Jeune rode Hickstead for his last round and after a beautiful performance he was World Champion. A big hug for Hickstead! A huge smile! And of course Hickstead's groom also got a big hug. Everyone wanted to congratulate the new champion!
