WoSJ Exclusive; My dream top four final – Daniel Deusser

Wednesday, 27 August 2014

In the week ahead of the kick-off for the showjumping at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, WoSJ asks some of the world's best showjumpers: If you end up in the top four final, which three horses do you dream of riding? Daniel Deusser could have chosen many horses that he has been on the back of before – Evita van de Veldbalie, Vienna Olympic, Ego van Orti, Lenardo der Kleine, Cortes'C and Codex One are all horses the German rider has been on. But Daniel went for a very different approach, and only picked one horse he has actually ridden in the past.

"I would first of all chose Joe Clee's Utamaro d'Ecaussines. I rode Utamaro already when he was a five year old, and liked him a lot as a young horse. He still looks like a really nice horse to ride.

Secondly I would like to ride Athina Onassis de Miranda's AD Camille Z. I have seen the mare compete a lot, and I think it is a really nice horse which is jumping very consistent.

Thirdly I would like to ride Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum's former top horse Bella Donna that now competes for Qatar under Hamad Ali Mohamed Al Attiyah. I really like the way this mare jumps and she seems like a very honest horse that always tries."
