WoSJ Exclusive; What about the World Cup Henrik?

Friday, 02 November 2012

Allerdings is one of the horses that Henrik will do the World Cups with. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson.Next out to answer our World Cup questions is the Swedish rider Henrik von Eckermann.

How important is the Rolex FEI World Cup for you this season?

"For me it is the most important thing during the indoor season. And of course it is very important with the final in Sweden this year. I would love to ride my first World Cup final on home soil!"

Which horses are you planning on using for the World Cup?

"The plan is to ride Allerdings and Quibell. You never know what happens during the season though, but that is the original plan."

At which of the World Cup shows can we hope to see you?

"I did the World Cup in Helsinki and now I will go to Verona, Geneva and Mechelen. I was lucky enough to be able to take Rolf's (Rolf-Göran Bengtsson) spot in Helsinki, Verona and in Mechelen. The riders among the top ten on the world ranking have a start place at every World Cup and when they don't use it another rider from the same country can take their place, but the rider has to be among the top 50. And since I was the only Swedish rider among the top 50 at the August ranking that counts for the World Cup shows in 2012, I was the only one who could replace Rolf."

"Now I really have to try hard to stay among the top 50 list so I'm still there for the December ranking which will count for the rest of the World Cup season. After Mechelen the remaining World Cups will be split among the Swedish riders that have a change to reach the final. But Sweden only has one place on every World Cup show, except for Rolf's place, so of course it would be good for me to stay among the top 50 so I can take his place on the shows he won't ride."
