WoSJ Exclusive; What about the World Cup Kevin?

Friday, 02 November 2012

Reveur de Hurtebise *HDC will be Kevin's partner for several legs. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. This time it's the French rider Kevin Staut that is telling us about his thoughts of this World Cup season.

How important is the Rolex FEI World Cup for you this season?

"This circuit is very important for me because it allows me to compete at indoor shows in very high quality arenas. Moreover, of a sporting point of view, to take part in the Rolex FEI World Cup circuit is a real goal, as to qualify for the final. It is a real sport challenge. I consider this circuit a true championship."

Which horses are you planning on using for the World Cup qualifiers?

"Silvana *HDC and Reveur de Hurtebise *HDC."

At which of the World Cup shows can we hope to see you?

"I hope to participate in all stages of the circuit. But if I get enough points to qualify for the final early on in the season, I might skip some legs in order to save my horses. I don't want to put them in "the red" from the beginning of the year. The goal is to qualify for the final and to be as good as possible on this occasion. So I have to make a realistic plan for my two horses which will be dedicated to this circuit, so they can approach this show in their best form. Competitions are now held throughout the year, and there are no more breaks as it used to be so we must manage our horses at best as we can throughout the year."
