Gerco Schröder on how his horse has developed since his last GCT win in Rio last year; “After Rio we had a few shows where he did not jump like in RIo. I used the winter to plan our shows, and I am very happy with him today.” In general Gerco was very pleased with his quite young horse who seems to be on form in front of the Olympics.
Rolf on his horse Casall la Silla; “Casall is in good form. It started not so good at the beginning of the weekend, but today he was great. Going out first in the jumpoff you have to risk, but not go wild.” It seemed like Rolf was a happy man today after three great rounds especially since it now looks like Casall la Silla will be his partner in London in August. “We are still trying to get Ninja la Silla ready, but it looks like it will be Casall.”
Edwina on being so close on taking her third win in Cannes with Cevo Itot du Chateau; “So close, but still so far away,” Edwina stated with a laugh. “My horse wanted to win more than me today,” she continued. Edwina was more than happy with her little superstar, but like she put it; “we are all here to win.”
Show director Francois Bouery was excited about a great show and concluded that “Edwina is the star in Cannes,” although he made sure to also give Gerco and Rolf some well deserved honour.
Jan Tops stated that “this was the perfect scenario. The show is getting better and better every year.” His words were no understatement - the show in Cannes has been perfect with top riders, top horses, great courses, fantastic atmosphere and last but not least - lovely weather.
Gerco summed up the press conference by drawing attention to the course designer Uliano Vezzani who “has build really good classes” the entire weekend.
