The biggest class in Birmingham yesterday was a 1.60 class with 31 contestants to start. Out of these 31 riders, nine had a clear first round and were able to ride the second one. All nine riders were clear in the second round as well, but the fastest one was on home soil; Scott Brash and Bon Ami (by Pavarotti vd Helle) at 24.72.
The pair only secured the win by one hundred of a second as another British rider Sam Hutton crossed the finish line at 24.73 aboard his gelding Lancelot TN (Lupicor x Dammen).
Billy Twomey was third with Romanov(Heartbreaker x Fedor) at 25.46. Billy was followed by two Dutch riders, Harrie Smolders and Wout-Jan ven der Schans. Then followed the Mexican rider Jaime Guerra, William Funnel, Timothy Davies and Kevin Staut. The latter on his new ride , the ten year old chestnut mare Nagaye de Kergane (Grand Chef Bleus x Type d’Elle).
