It was Italy's Lorenzo de Luca that won Friday's first five-star competition at the Longines Masters of Paris, the Laiterie de Montaigu Trophy.
Like yesterday, the clears were few in this 1.50m competition with a jump-off and only four of the fourty-seven riders managed to produce fault-free rounds to move on to ride against the clock. Entering the ring for a second time, only Lorenzo de Luca on Limestone Grey (Try-Time) and Abdelkebir Ouaddar on Quickly de Kreisker (Diamant de Semilly x Laudanum) managed to repeat themselves to finish first and second with a margin of 0.61 separating the two of them.
Great Britain's John Whitaker finished third with one down on Argento (Arko III x Gasper), while Maelle Martin was the best home rider aboard Giovani de la Pomme (Shindler de Muze x Darco) also she with four faults in the jump-off. Austria's Max Kühner ended fifth after recording a time penalty on Cornet Kalua (Cornet Obolensky x Platin), as did sixth placed Carlos Enrique Lopez Lizarazo from Colombia aboard Admara 2 (Padinus x Murano).
