FEI World Equestrian Games 2018

The 2018 team final at the FEI World Equestrian Games offered a very special treat: Something so rare as a jump-off for the gold medals. USA and Sweden had to battle it out once more, and all riders from both teams had to show the world how capable they are when it comes to speed. We look back at some of the many magic moments behind the scenes: First out Laura Kraut and her fantastic Zeremonie that produced two clears for the winning team yesterday. It was a very nervous wait for Sweden's Chef d'Equipe Henrik Ankarcrona when he watched McLain Ward ride as last to go for USA, and the one that could decide the outcome of the gold and silver medals and if there would be a jump-off or not. When a pole fell for McLain, Henrik started ordering his riders to get back on their horses and prepare for the jump-off.

Photo (c) Jenny Abrahamsson. Peder has quite some routine from championships by now, but to go in to a jump-off for the team must be something special even for the most experienced riders.

Photo (c) Jenny Abrahamsson. Zermonie seemed to take every opportunity to get a nice scratch.

Photo (c) Jenny Abrahamsson. McLain Ward was last to go in the jump-off and his groom Lee McKeever was doing his best to help in front of the big screen jumping around, shouting 'Go Clinta', 'Jump Clinta'. And it worked out!

Photo (c) Jenny Abrahamsson. Congratulations to Lee McKeever and all the other amazing grooms being part of this championships - you are heroes!!
