“We have succeeded in putting together a really impressive lot”, says Dr. Jörgen Köhlbrandt, Holsteiner Verband marketing and sales GmbH auction manager and executive director. Having spared no effort, he and his team inspected well above 100 horses ahead of the auction. And it has paid off: The current collection of the 2018 Holsteiner spring auction held in the Elmshorn Fritz-Thiedemann hall on 17 March comprises 47 young talents, including twelve three-year-old mares, colts and geldings which all stood out with impressive free jumping at the selection tour. But this is not all. In view of their excellent bloodlines, some of the mares – by Calido, Casall, Cascadello I, Dinken and Uriko, are perfectly suited for producing a foal prior to an intended sport use. “The three-year-olds will be delivered next week and will be publicly shown during the free jumping presentation on 11 March for the first time“, according to Dr. Köhlbrandt.

The four- to seven-year-old riding horses have already been stabled at Elmshorn and Dr. Köhlbrandt is perfectly satisfied with their first public presentation last Tuesday. As all horses had arrived at the facility in a very good state, they presented themselves accordingly. The auction manager is particularly taken with the four- and five-year-old Holsteiners. Even though most of them are not very experienced yet, their exceptional potential is obvious, ranging from top amateur mounts to an impressive number of international quality prospects.

Quite some horses of this calibre have found new owners through the Holsteiner spring auction in recent years, like for example the Corrido-offspring Cordillo (Erik Schöning, Sipsdorf), who went to Nisse Lüneburg’s yard six years ago and jumped to third position in the Klein Flottbek German Jumping Derby in 2017. Or Classic Edition by Casall (Hark Martensen, Oldsum) – the highest-priced lot of 2014 is well on her way to an international showjumping career under Belgian Tom Martens, providing good advertisement for the spring auction selection. Another horse deserving to be mentioned is Cierra by Casall (Mathias Hansen, Kronprinzenkoog); under the name Celia she was purchased by US-American Alison Firestone last year and has been collecting first results in Wellington. The Cancara-daughter Dacara E (Gerd Eggers, Stadum) has had first outings at international level as well. The reigning State Champion has other wins, including one in Oliva/Spain under her belt and just recently attracted attention in the youngster tour of the Neumünster CSI under Cassandra Orschel.

Top sport horses have come from the Holsteiner spring auction time and again but it has also teamed up excellently trained and easily handled amateur horses rigorously selected for soundness with new owners. That’s the reason this auction is no longer an insider tip but about to turn into another elite auction. So, what are you waiting for? Dr. Jörgen Köhlbrandt and his team’s offer most definitely includes a suitable sport partner for you as well and he is looking forward for you to contact him:
