On Thursday the 1st and Saturday the 3rd of February the 18th edition of the KWPN Select Sale will take place at the KWPN Stallion Show in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands. On Thursday, a selection of about 25 showjumping stallions will be auctioned by auctioneer Frederick De Backer, starting around 03:20PM. The collection is now published on www.kwpn.nl/selectsale and during the KWPN Stallion Show, some exciting stallions will be added through the wildcard system.

In the past 17 editions, many successful showjumpers have been sold through the KWPN Select Sale. Some of them became approved stallions and others turned out to be excellent sport horses. VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calando I) is one of the greatest success stories of the KSS. Ridden by Leopold van Asten, VDL Groep Zidane is one of world’s most successful showjumpers, winning the CSI5* Grand Prix of both ‘s-Hertogenbosch and La Coruña and becoming Dutch champion in 2015.

Former KSS-stallions

Next to VDL Groep Zidane, also Johnny Pals’ successful Grand Prix-mount Vignet (Heartbreaker x Iroko) was sold through the KWPN Select Sale; Vignet has had many top placings in CSI5* competitions and represented the Netherlands in several Nations Cups. Well-known international showjumpers like the KWPN approved Tadmus (John Whitaker), Tantalus (Jody van Gerwen), Skik (Tobias Meyer), Abache HL (Charlotte Verhagen) and many more were also sold through the KWPN Select Sale.

Egbert Schep: ‘We have put together a group of very interesting showjumping stallions’

The experienced horseman, dealer and breeder Egbert Schep is one of the board members of the KSS. “We have really put together a group of very interesting showjumping stallions. Most of them are stallions with an excellent pedigree, sired by both older, well-known stallions and promising young stallions”, Egbert Schep explains. According to Schep, the KSS is a great opportunity to purchase a talented young showjumper as a future sport horse of a potential breeding stallion. “The horses were all invited for the second round of the KWPN Stallion Show and all have passed an extensive vet check, both radiographically and clinically. Thereby, the buyers can all see the stallions jumping on Wednesday or Thursday. So you really know what you are buying”, Schep emphasizes.

Offspring of Cardento, Kannan, Chaman and Air Jordan

The jumping collection is full of interesting young stallions, that all showed off their talent during the first round of the KWPN Stallion Show.  The collection includes offspring of sires such as Cardento, Verdi, Kannan and Quasimodo Z, but also of rising stars like Chaman, Etoulon VDL, A'Lee Spring Power and El Salvador. Promising young stallions such as Glennfiddich VDL, Fandango HX, Connect, Great Blue, F-One USA, Farfan M and Flying Dream also have offspring in the KWPN Select Sale, just like Air Jordan, Modesto, Cidane, Douglas and Zavall VDL.
