This year’s Liverpool International Horse Show will see you watching top competitors in action, whilst soaking up the sheer glamour of the sport in the magical Echo Arena venue, decked out in festive and New Year celebratory style.
New Year’s Eve will start with serious World Class International Show jumping as riders battle to become the Liverpool International Grand Prix Champion – a title currently held by Irishman Billy Twomey.
And don’t forget facilities around the Echo Arena include fantastic hotel accommodation, bars and top class restaurants if you are looking to extend the party! Travel to the Echo Arena is easy, with both Liverpool and Manchester Airports both within 40 minutes drive of the venue, and Liverpool Lime Street station a 5 minute taxi drive away.
New to the 2017 Liverpool International Horse Show, dressage will take place on the Friday evening, December 29 – with a host of leading names, including London Olympic team gold medallist Carl Hester - making their way to the iconic waterfront arena.
This exciting addition will see well known horse and rider combinations dancing the night away to their chosen music.
Over the three days the very best show jumping is set to take place with top riders from around the world travelling to take part in and enjoy the glitz and celebrations that the Liverpool International Horse Show has quickly become renowned for.
This year’s Liverpool International Horse Show will also see exciting Pony Grand Prix show jumping classes for all three height divisions.
The pony classes always prove hugely popular and 2017 is the first year all three 128cm, 138cm and 148cm Grand Prix Championships will take place.
At each performance The Shetland Pony Grand National will see pint sized jockeys on very feisty ponies racing their hearts out to be led into the winner’s enclosure. These Shetlands take their racing very seriously and travel all over the country performing at high profile shows…very high in ‘cute’ factor and a firm favourite with the children!
FMX, or Freestyle Motocross takes the sport of Motocross to another level with riders flying off a purpose built ramp with their bikes 40 feet in the air and will feature every sessions.

Due to the risky - some might even say downright crazy - nature of the sport, freestylers are highly paid sporting stars who compete in year-round competitions inclduing the X Games, Red Bull X-fighters and the Arenacross World Tour.
The ‘edge of the seat’ Puissance takes centre stage on the Saturday night while the Sunday evening includes the Grand Prix and a family friendly spectacular way to see in the New Year with fireworks and celebrations in the arena until 12.15am.
