37th Performance Sales International Auction

The Olympic Games in Rio demonstrated the extent to which the equestrian sport world has expanded, and many new nations are now represented at top-level international championships. At the Olympic Games, 69 Grand Prix-level riders from 25 nations competed in the discipline of dressage alone, and there were an impressive 90 riders from 27 nations in the show jumping ring. To sustain this trend in future, P.S.I. remains committed to selecting the best young dressage and show jumping horses and to “placing them in the right hands.”

Mediocrity is a word that does not exist in Paul Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselmann’s vocabularies, and the P.S.I. Auction delivers a comprehensive service package that customers won’t experience anywhere else. It starts out with the selection of the horses by two expert horsemen who know exactly what to look for. “The majority of the auction lots are horses that we have either bred ourselves or bought as foals,” said Paul Schockemöhle. “This means we can start a targeted training programme from day one of their career under the saddle, which helps us to ensure excellent standards of quality.” Paul Schockemöhle’s Lewitz Stud is a unique source of young talents, complemented by the Kasselmann family’s breeding programme at the Osthoff Stud. Every P.S.I. horse has an exemplary “curriculum vitae” thanks to decades of experience and know-how, plus experienced grooms, riders and handlers.

Style, quality and own-bred horses, professional expertise and first-rate contacts are the foundations of the P.S.I. auction, plus an excellent after-sale service which includes organising the horses’ transportation to anywhere in the world, insurance covering the entire purchase price, comprehensive veterinary documentation and, if required, post-purchase training for the rider and the horse. “Our customers’ success is our motivation,” said Ulli Kasselmann, explaining the principle on which the P.S.I. auction is based.

Million Euro Investments at the 36th P.S.I. Auction

Stalognia and Fasine were the best-priced horses of the 36th P.S.I. Auction at December 2015 in Ankum. Paul Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselmann compiled another outstanding and exquisite collection of show jumping and dressage horses, and they were finally highly satisfied with their two top horses and a total revenue of Euro 17,795,000.

The 6-year old grey mare Stalognia by Stakkatol x Chacco-Blue was top-priced horse of the auction, and with 1.7 million Euro at the same time most expensive jumper of this 2015 P.S.I. collection. A customer from France paid this outstanding price for the daughter of the successful Chalanda, sold at the 2012 P.S.I. Auction. Paul Schockemöhle confirmed this decision: “Stalognia is maybe the best horse I have ever bred.”

Many had anticipated before that she would be very expensive, as the top-priced horse of the 36th dressage collection delights and fascinates many horse enthusiasts. She was nominated best Oldenburg mare at the age of three, became the best German dressage horse at the age of six: state premium mare Fasine. She won the 2015 Federal Championships of six-year-old horses with the sensational final score of 9.3 with Paul Schockemöhle’s rider, the Norwegian Isabel Freese (formerly Bache), and she is at the same time the pride of her breeder Paul Schockemöhle. And particularly excellent news were announced directly after the bid of 1.3 million Euro was accepted: Isabell Freese will continue to ride Fasine who is now owned by a stud in Bavaria.
