Breeding

At the age of 31, Emilion – one of the world’s most well-known sires – has passed away.

“Today we had to say goodbye to our top stallion Emilion. The Preferent stallion reached a fantastic age of 31 years. Emilion has been of great value to us and our company, we do not only look back at his fantastic sport and breeding results but also at his great personality and super character, he was a winner!” the VDL Stud writes on their Facebook pages.

The sire of VDL Emerton, VDL Empire, Cenwood Delle Lame, VDL Groep Tomboy as well as Seldana di Campalto, Emilion has bred several horses jumping at the very highest level of the sport. Emilion himself had a successful international career under Ulrich Kirchhoff.
