Medical examinations show that Belgium's Olivier Philippaerts has to undergo surgery for the shoulder injury he sustained in Gothenburg on Tuesday.

It was during Tuesday's warm-up jumping for the Europeans that Philippaerts was maximum unlucky to dislocate his shoulder following a fall from his horse H&M Legend of Love, when he tried to hold on to the mare that was about to run off without her rider.

"Over the last days I have undergone examinations, and the outcome is an operation," says Olivier Philippaerts in a press release. "Next week I will be operated. Shortly after I start with rehabilitation," continues Philippaerts who hopes that he will be able to return to the ring at the end of October. "I will listen to my doctor and my body," continues the 24-year-old rider who thanks his fans and main partner H&M for all their support.

The WoSJ-team would like to wish Olivier a speedy recovery, and hope to see him back in the saddle soon!
