Paul Estermann has reported to the Swiss Equestrian Federation (SVPS) that he is under investigation for accusations of animal cruelty. The accusations against Estermann – a member of the Swiss jumping squad and regular on their teams – were made public in an article in the Swiss online magazine Blick last week.

The Swiss Equestrian Federation has now released a statement where they write that they at this moment have no other confirmed information in the case.

“The well-being of the horse is the first priority for the SVPS,” reads the statement from the Swiss Equestrian Federation. “The Federation will therefore continue to pursue the matter and, if needed, take necessary measures.”

First however, the Swiss Equestrian Federation will make a complete clarification of the case. “Until then the presumption of innocence is applied,” the statement closes off.
