Talan retired from the sport

After a long and successful career, Abdullah Al-Sharbatly has announced the retirement of the now 17-year-old stallion Talan (Concorde x Burggraaf) – that from here on will shift his focus towards breeding.  

Talan jumped into the spotlight with Great Britain’s Robert Smith, who competed him at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky before he in 2011 was sold to Saudi Equestrian with HH Prince Faisal Al-Shalan taking over the reins. HH Prince Faisal Al-Shalan jumped at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen with the stallion, and also took home a team silver medal at the Asian Games that same year. 

In 2015, Al-Sharbatly took over the ride on Talan and together the two won the CSI3* World Cup in Mostaganem and ended second in the CSI5* Grand Prix in Riyadh.

“Talan played a huge part in my career,” Al-Sharbatly states in a press release. “He gave me his best always and he was a true winner, he definitely deserves the best. Thank you Talan for everything you did to me and to the sport."
