podie7Three happy medalists in Lanaken. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. It was Gudrun Patteet and Sea Coast Atlantic that took home the gold at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship for 7 year old horses in Lanaken. Sea Coast Atlantic is by Schilling x Aramis de la Cense and bred by Marc Vanlangendonck.

"I bought him one year ago and have always believed in him. A lot of people have really not liked him that much, as he isn't that pretty and since he isn't so sporty in the model. But he has a huge heart, he is brave and has the best technique that a horse can have," Gudrun said moved to tears at the press conference.

The talented rider rode Barnike by Baldwin B x Animo, and the pair showed off in the jump-off. No one was even close to take their time even if twelve riders and horses had the chance to try.

podie5An Irish win; Greg Broderick won in Lanaken with Arraghbeg Clover. Photo by Jenny Abrahamsson. An Irish horse and an Irish rider won the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championship for 5 year olds - Greg Broderick with Arraghbeg Clover (Captain Clover x Bonnie Prince). The mare is bred by Agata Leonard, and owned by Declan Orpen together with Broderick.

"I knew I had a chance to win with Arraghbeg Clover. I have been here several times and know that you need a very fast horse to be able to win. Clover has a fantastic record in Ireland and this year she has only had one down the whole season. Last weekend she won the Breeders Classics in Ireland. It is a lot for a five year old to jump that big last weekend and then come here and do it again. That just shows what an unbelievable horse she is. But I never hesitated to do both shows with her, because she has so much blood and she never gets tired. Then she also get better and better for every round, and learns something each time," said a happy winner after the class and added "She has been winning 19 000 Euro the last six weeks before Lanaken - that is a lot for a five year old!"
