Photo by World of Showjumping.Just like last year Daniel Deusser climbed to the top of the podium at the German Championship in Balve. This year, Daniel partnered up with the impressive nine year old First Class van Eeckelghem (Balou du Rouet x Feinschnitt I vd Richter) – a horse that has only jumped a couple of big Grand Prix classes in his life. Coming into today's final Daniel was on a clean sheet, as was Friday's winner Marcus Ehning. For Ehning it did not last all the way though, as Sabrina (Sandro Boy x Landadel) had a foot in the water and one down in the first round and then one pole down in the second round. Although he kept his position on the top, Daniel made it very exciting for himself and the full house watching in Balve.

Maikel, who has grown up in Mierlo where the championship took place, took a very popular win after two clear rounds in today's final part of the competition. "I have my roots here in this village, and lived here until recently. During the lap of honour, the audience stayed in the stands to cheer for me – then you notice that even though I live in Someren, I'm Mierlo-kid," Maikel smiled after his win.
