It was the Italian rider Matteo Giunti that ended up on top in the Sprehe Grand Prix of Linz. On Bambino van’t Zorgvliet Giunti produced the only clear round in the jump-off to take home the first prize on his 11 year old Chin Chin-mare. Cassio Rivetti and Verdi were second (by Andiamo). The two had by far the fastest time, but had to see one pole fall to the ground. Brazilian rider Jose Roberto Reynoso Fernandes Filho was third on Maestro St. Lois (by Echo des Forest), also he with one down in the jump-off.
Six riders were qualified for the jump-off. First Luiz-Francisco de Azevedo and James Paterson-Robinson had to deal with four penalty points each. Matteo Giunti took his time around the jump-off track, and did a safe but clear round on the time of 54.47 seconds. While he was happy with a good, solid round, the other riders tried to beat his time – but all of them had one fence down. The 36 year old Italian Matteo Giunti could finish his first appearance at the CSIO**** Linz with a big win and travel home with the price money of 26.400,00 €.
