The Grand Prix Ville de Maubeuge was won by Dutch rider Marc Houtzager and his bouncy Sterrehof’s Opium (Polydor x Bormio). There were seven double clears in the 3* Grand Prix, but Houtzager was able to snatch the victory by 0.06 seconds. John Whitaker was second on the Cavalier Royale-son Casino, and Jerome Hurel from France was third aboard Ohm de Ponthual (Voltaire x Calypso d’Herbiers).
